Proverbs 21:5 (GNBDC) “Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough.”

If you are a Christian and you are not making profit, the father is not pleased with you. Our Father is in earnest expectation to see us use what He has given us profitably to His glory. It is His will for us to make profit and build wealth and He has empowered us to do the same. (Deuteronomy 8:18)

God is profit-minded and because we are His offspring, we must also be profit-minded. Here are three tips to help us live a profit-minded life:

1. God multiplies what we have when we are diligent. When the Lord blesses what we think is nothing in our hands, it multiplies. As Christians, we must bear in mind that, when we are diligent with the little we have, God will certainly multiply what we have in no time. Jesus did not need too much to feed the 5000; He just used five loaves and two fishes. (Matthew 14:13-27).

2. Learn to save. Saving is a must for all Christians and we must bear in mind that in every harvest is a seed for the future. When we get this right we will be living a profit-minded life as God wants us to. Joseph is a classic example of saving and its concomitant benefits as he drew an excellent saving plan for 7 years of famine which saved the lives of thousands in Egypt and around the world. (Genesis 41:45-57)

We will get richer and richer when we learn to save but when we don’t, poverty will be inevitable.

3. Prepare and plan adequately. As farmers do, when they want to plant seeds they do not choose just any soil. To live a profit-minded life, planning and preparation is key. The Bible says in Luke 14:28 (NLT), “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

It is very important to plan towards our use of resources and the acquisition of wealth. We need to keep in mind that we can't live a profit-minded life by chance, we must plan toward it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me wisdom and knowledge to live a profit-minded life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
