Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

A believer who is not consistent in prayer is unlikely to make notable impact, risks straying away from the faith, and can lose territory to the enemy. A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. It is said, the weight and size of a man are directly proportional to the weight of his prayer. A believer who is not consistent in prayer is unlikely to make notable impact, risks straying away from the faith, and can lose territory to the enemy.

Conditions on earth are under the control and manipulation of the devil, but the atmosphere generated by prayer releases divine light and the presence of God, which Satan and his enemies cannot operate in. Jesus woke up early to pray. He is our example, and we must seek to emulate Him.

Whilst it is important to pray at all times (1 Thessalonians 5:17), there are several benefits of setting aside time early in the morning to pray. It helps you to:

#1. Take charge of the day.
What happens on earth is controlled by the spirit realm. Therefore, early morning prayer helps you to take charge of demonic projections.

#2. Prepare your heart.
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5: 30). Our hearts and minds are filled with the presence and power of God. When you wake up early to pray, the Holy Spirit reveals the mind of God to you and prepares you for the day.

#3. Receive power for the work of God.
The priests of the Old Testament normally went into the Temple to offer incense wearing thick clothes, but returned with light ones. That symbolizes the need to carry the burden of prayer into the presence of God and come out with answers that are light. The heavy job must be done in secret, and in public we can undertake the light work of manifesting the power of God.

Precious one, the Bible tells us that,

“The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).

As you rise up early to pray, may God empower and strengthen you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to pray as I should, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
