Romans 8:37 "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
At least, almost every person desires to have a fulfilling life through the pursuit and achievement of their dreams and assignments in life. However, many people fail to realise their best and fullest potential because of obstacles. Rivers and streams flow downhill, and not uphill because water chooses the path of least resistance.
To overcome obstacles, you need to go all the way out to face them; do not let them stop you from trying. It is said that “the pain of falling short is nothing compared to the shame of stopping short”. It is better to go all the way and know it didn’t work out than going halfway and quitting because you had no idea what results you would get. We are, however, assured in God’s Word that we are more than conquerors through Christ; and conquerors overcome.
Here are three things to overcome in your pursuit to achieve:
1. Overcome your fears.The only “fear” we are permitted to have is the fear of the Lord. Do not allow the issues and uncertainties of life to frighten you. If your heart is set right with God, nothing can stop you. Let us take up personally the command God gave to Joshua,
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9)
2. Overcome your doubts. When Moses and Gideon were called by God, they doubted their ability to carry out the proposed assignment. To achieve our dreams and assignments, we must overcome doubts arising from our weaknesses and inadequacies. This is so crucial because it will determine whether we sink in life or walk on the water. After saving him from sinking, Jesus said to Peter,
“O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:31)
3. Overcome trials and difficulties.
James 1:3-4 (NLT) says, "For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing."
Scripture enjoins us to count it all joy when we go through trials and temptations. Never let it be a “stop sign” for you as you pursue your dreams and assignments. Trials only build perseverance and faith, which are the ingredients to obtain promises and results.
Precious one, whenever you feel like stopping short in your pursuits because of fears, doubts and trials, remember that there are destinies tied to yours. Be motivated by the prize ahead and press on to overcome, just like Jesus who overcame.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the strength to pursue, to overcome and to achieve every dream and assignment You have given me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
