«And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.» - Judges 7:21
The story of Gideon attacking the Midianites and Amalekites is a good example of how offensive action confuses the enemy and gives you the upper hand. Offensive action speaks about taking the initiative. A person takes the initiative by taking the first step and controlling what happens thereafter. Offensive action is the practical way in which a person seeks to gain advantage in the war. All those who have succeeded in war have initiated action and moved forward aggressively. This surprises the enemy and enables you to continuously retain the upper hand in the conflict.
Defenders are often the losers! It is not easy, practical or possible to defend yourself for a long time. When you are a defender a single mistake can cost you everything, whereas the attacker can afford to make several mistakes.
Instead of waiting for the church to reduce in size, take the initiative by aggressively and continuously inviting many people to the church. Instead of waiting for your church to be occupied only by the elderly and dying, become an aggressive evangelist and initiate your outreaches to younger people now. Take decisions about your leadership and initiate moves against their disloyalty before people around you change into snakes.
You must not wait until the crisis or problem is well developed. Take the initiative!When you take the initiative, you force the enemy to panic and his reactions often help you to overcome him. Deny your enemies the ability to think and plan by taking the initiative. You must move first! You must not wait until the crisis or problem is well developed. Take the initiative!
