Luke 2:52 (KJV) “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
If children are the future leaders of the world, then what they are taught is what they would exhibit when they grow up. Therefore, the education of children is key, and parents should not neglect it.
Any parent who fails to give proper education to his child has disadvantaged him for a lifetime. In fact, any parent who fails to give proper education to his child has disadvantaged him for a lifetime.
From the scripture above, Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and favour with both man and God. That was a total development of His personality, a result of the education He received. So, following His pattern, let's look at three elements of educating a child:
1.Expose to wisdom
Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."
An educated person becomes academically wise. When children are exposed to wisdom early, they end up coping with intellectual demands of life early.
2. Expose them to knowledge
Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge"
When we take our children to school, they are exposed to knowledge. Educational legacy is greater than any physical investment you may ever make for your children. But know that academic knowledge alone is incomplete without the knowledge of God and the Scriptures.
3.Expose them to good books
2 Timothy 4:13"The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments."
It's said that, "This world's leaders are its readers". You are positioning your children to become leaders in society by making them cultivate reading habits very early in life.
Precious one, education is one of the greatest legacies a parent will leave for the child. Someone said, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." So give your children a good education.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to educate my children ; and as a child, grant me the grace to take my education seriously, in Jesus' name, Amen.
