James 1:6-7 (GNT) “But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is driven and blown about by the wind.”

Bishop Charles AgyinasareFrom today's reading, we see that prayers made to God must be with faith. In other words, if we desire results from our prayers, then faith is an absolute must when we pray. The same applies when we fast.

Having doubts amid fasting and prayer is like pouring acid on your prayer request just after you have offered it.

Doubts robbed the natives of Jesus’ home-town of God's best for them (Mark 6:6). Here are 3 ways to overcome doubt so that we can pray through to break through in our fasting and prayer:

1. Resist doubt. The Bible says in James 4:7b, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Since the Devil is a major agent who sows seeds of doubt in our minds, the only chance we have against him is to put him on the run by resisting him when he suggests doubt to our minds.

2. Speak the Word. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:13, "We having the same spirit of faith, according to as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak". The cure for doubt is faith.

So, don't just resist the Devil; look for scriptures that cover what you are believing God for, and keep declaring them to yourself, to God, and even the Devil!

3. Come to God in confidence. The Bible says in

Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV), "It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear."

This means, when we come before the Lord, it’s not a matter of “trial and error”, for the Bible says, God will answer even before we ask. That should be your confidence: that what you pray for will surely be granted.

Precious one, as you pray and fast in faith, your prayer will be effectual, and it will produce results like never before.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I bind the spirit of doubt, fear, and unbelief around me, and release the spirit of faith, let my prayer and fasting be fruitful in Jesus’ name. Amen.
