Hebrews 11:2 “For by it [faith] the elders obtained a good report.”

Faith is a great resource for every believer. Without faith, we wouldn't be saved or justified. The Bible ultimately says, without faith, we can't please God.

Moreover, faith is necessary for our daily walk and triumph over the storms and challenges of this life. The Bible declares that by faith the elders of old were able to obtain a good report, that is, they were able to surmount and overcome the challenges and oppositions they confronted by faith.

A good report includes good health, ministerial expansion, financial and business increase, childbearing, deliverance, salvation, open doors, favour, and victory. A good report is attainable by the expediency of our faith

We must understand that the closeness to our miracle is not solely dependent on where we stand physically but by the reach of our faith. The centurion by faith was closer to his miracle than the immediate followers of Christ (Matthew 8:8). Since faith helps to obtain a good report, let us look at three important compositions of our faith:

1. What we believe. The Bible says in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  Our faith begins where the will of God is known. That means the knowledge of God’s word is a prerequisite to having a buoyant faith. The faith of the believer is founded on the premise of God’s unadulterated, infallible, and inerrant word and not human philosophies, tales, folklores, and experiences.

2. What we say. The confession of the word releases our faith. Saying or speaking the right things is paramount because life and death are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs18:21). The right thing to say is the word of God. The right thing to declare and confess is God's position on the matter. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:13, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”

3. What we do. The confession of our faith must be commensurate with a walk of faith. A walk of faith is taking steps of faith. When Peter cast his net after receiving the words of Christ, it resulted in the bumper harvest (Luke 5:5). Abraham knew his wife Sarah, and Isaac was born; and Naaman washed in the Jordan river and was cleansed from his leprosy. The demands of our faith must be backed by our actions. The Bible teaches us that faith without works is dead ( James 2:26).

Precious one, it is important we exercise our faith to obtain a good report by believing God’s word, and confessing and walking by it. You will have a good report as you demonstrate your faith.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I receive into my heart the gift and the spirit of faith. May my faith deliver unto me a good report in Jesus’ name. Amen.
