Romans 4:21 (NKJV) “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”

Knowing God's word goes hand in hand with building our faith in God. Leaning on God’s promises and His word is a must for all believers, for in it our faith is built. Just as Abraham was strengthened in faith and therefore ultimately received the promise of a child, we can also inherit all the divine promises by our faith. Here are three reasons why we must build our faith:

1. The hand of God is moved by our faith. The Bible tells us in Mark 2:5, “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’” When Jesus saw the faith of the lame man’s friends, He was moved on their behalf and healed their friend. Great faith always precedes miracles. Therefore, be strengthened in faith.

2.  Faith is key to receiving from God. Unless we are strengthened in faith, we won’t receive from God. We often ask God to meet our needs, to heal our bodies or relationships, or to give us wisdom, etc. However, the Bible makes us understand in James 1:6-7 (NKJV), “…But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord”. We won’t receive what we’re asking for if we are weak in faith.

3. Faith is what helps us remain strong during hard times. Faith is a lifeline in adversity; it serves as an impenetrable shield that protects us from the snares and schemes of the Devil. Apostle Paul entreats us in Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV), “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” We mustn’t lose our faith in adversity lest we be destroyed.

Precious one, build your faith, and you will move God,  receive from Him, and be empowered to overcome adversity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I get to know You more and know Your word, cause me to be strengthened in faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
