Isaiah 62:6 “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence”

Like a deer pants and seeks for the water brooks—to quench its thirst and to hide from predators—so must believers constantly keep the streams of living water flowing through prayer. Prayer is so necessary that Jesus Christ in one of His teachings said, “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

As long as we neglect prayer, the enemy will sow undesirable things into our lives to cause as much damage as he can.

Here are three reasons there must always be prayer in our lives:

1. Prayer provides spiritual stamina to endure tough seasons. Difficult seasons come to each one of us and we need strength to endure them. When He was faced with the cross with a heavy heart, Jesus prayed and “there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.” – Luke 22:43. Constant prayer equips us with strength for adversities ahead.

2. Prayer guarantees safety and protection. Prayer hides us in “the shadow of the Almighty”. Under God's shadow, we are covered with His feathers, where no terror or pestilence can penetrate. In the safety of God’s mighty shadow, evil shall not befall us, and plagues are not permitted to come near us (Psalm 91:1-9)

3. Prayer produces Christian effectiveness. After Jesus Christ finished fasting and praying, He "returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee:" - Luke 4:14. Prayer releases spiritual power for believers to effectively minister to the world and to others of like-faith. Without prayer, we cannot let our light shine among men.

Precious one, pray without ceasing so that you will be strong enough to handle adversities, and to be protected from harm and also to be able to become an effective Christian.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, stir up within me the desire to pray always and not to faint, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
