Proverbs 14:23 (NIV) “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
The first commandment God gave man was to work and till the land (Genesis 2:15). It is in God's ultimate design that man must work. The blessings of God are not devoid of hard-work. We have been called to be faithful and diligent in the things we do.
God requires a certain work ethic from believers and that's the distinctive factor that separates the worldly from the followers of Christ
Holding on to the promise of Christ, we are rest assured that the delay is not a denial. If we stay committed to our work, the fruit of our labour will not pass us by. There is an open door before us but we must work the field God has placed us in. Laziness is not a characteristic of a believer.
Here are 3 ways to keep up hard work:
1. Convince yourself of the reward. Don't think of how difficult the work is but how good you will feel when it is done. Galatians 6:4 ”But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”
2. Surround yourself with like minded people. We must endeavour to be around people who don't eschew hard-work but believe in it. Proverbs 27:17 ESV “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
3. Remember your “WHY”. Nothing is more motivating than reminding yourself why you're doing the work in the first place. 2 Corinthians 8:11 “Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.”
Precious one, my dad always said that hard-work breaks no bones. It is important we understand that hard-work has a place in our Christian life and our Savior Jesus demonstrated it by working for the crown that was placed before Him.
Prayer : Heavenly Father, give me strength to build the spirit of hard work that would bring me to the table of success and excellence in Jesus’ name, Amen.
