«And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.» - Luke 6:11
The underlying causes of accusation are the common causes of madness. Fear and hatred are common causes of accusation. Notice how they watched Christ to find something to accuse him of. Eventually, they were filled with madness. Men and women full of fear and hatred become the outlet of Satan's accusations. This is another reason why you must keep your heart pure. Keep fear and hatred far from your heart.
Let me share with you a bit of medical science to help you understand the relationship between accusations and mental illness. Two cardinal symptoms of madness (schizophrenia) are paranoid delusions and auditory hallucinations. With paranoid delusions, the patient is fearful and believes in the existence of things that are not real, and cannot be convinced otherwise. With auditory hallucinations, the patient hears voices accusing him, talking to him and discussing him.
In mental illness, the fearful state progresses until the patients hear voices and imagine things that are not real. In mental illness, fears drive the patients down the road of lunacy. In spiritual illness, fears also drive the person down the road of accusations. With spiritual problems, people are deceived and they cling to their deceptions. It is these deceptions that grow into delusions.
Do not allow the raging fears of this life to be in your heart. They may drive you towards a mental illness which you never expected.
