John 14:17 “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

For God so loved the world that He gave His Son as a gift to all mankind that they who receive Him will have eternal life. When Jesus completed His ministry, He returned to the Father and sent to us the promise of the Holy Spirit.
 
Whereas Jesus is a gift to the whole world, the Holy Spirit is a gift, not to the whole world, but to those who have received the first gift, which is eternal life in Christ Jesus. The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit because “it seeth him not, neither knoweth him”; that is to say, when the Holy Spirit moves and works, the world cannot see and identify His works, and when He speaks, the world cannot receive because they don’t know His voice.
 
But we, believers, know Him, hear Him and see Him because He is with us and in us.
 
Here are three areas of His ministry in us:
 
1. He guides us into all truth. Jesus says in

John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth”.

Jesus said, “thy word is truth” (John 17:17). This means the Holy Spirit guides us into the truth of God’s word which relates to spiritual things and our lives. When believers hear the true Word of God preached to them, there is a witness in their hearts that it is truth, whereas the world will hear the same and criticize because they know not the Spirit of truth.
 
2. He will show us things to come. Jesus says about Him,

“and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13)

It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit in you to reveal the Lord’s plans for you, to unveil approaching evil and to uncover future world events that will affect your life. Pray and ask Him to show you and He will because He has promised that when we call in Him, He will show us great and hidden things which we have not known (Jeremiah 33:3 NIV)
 
3. He will remind us of the word we have heard. John 14:26 says,

“the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall...bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”

It is the work of the Holy Spirit to remind us of the Word of God we have received, either through reading the Bible or hearing through preaching. When we are discouraged, He brings a word of comfort; when fearful, a word of courage; when confused, a word of direction; when in crisis, a word of deliverance. This is why the word of God must dwell richly in you.
 
Precious one, we cannot be disadvantaged when we take advantage of His ministry in us. Walk closely with Him and listen to Him and He will guide you into all truth, show you things to come and remind you of the word of God.
 
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the ministry of Your Spirit in my life. Holy Spirit, I yield to You today and I ask You to carry out Your full ministry in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
