James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
Tancredo Neves ran for the presidency of Brazil in the 1980s. He boldly declared that, if he got 500,000 votes from his own party, not even God could keep him from being president.
He won the election, but one day later he got sick and died. There is no way to know if God accepted his challenge, but what we can know for sure is that human beings should not make such bold, arrogant statements. God detests the proud or arrogant (Proverbs 16:5 GNB).Beloved, he that is humble has God to be his guide.
Here are 3 dangers of being proud :
#1. Pride prepares you for a fall.
The most predictable thing on earth is a “fall” or “shame”, which comes after pride. The Bible tell us in
Proverbs 11:2 KJV, “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”
#2. Pride brews no victory.
With pride comes no victory. The Bible says in
Psalms 149:4 GNB that, “The Lord takes pleasure in His people; He honours the humble with victory.”
#3.Pride is an abomination to the Lord.
Who wants to be an abomination to the Lord? Pride is an abomination to the Lord because the Bible tells us in
Proverbs 16:5 that, “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”
Pride is something all Christians must stay away from. Precious one, stay humble today and you will experience victories and divine elevation.
Prayer : Heavenly Father, wash out every particle of pride in me and help me stay humble in Jesus’ name Amen.
