Often, unbelievers have fun and manifest their lusts and passions without restraint. This is exactly what Belshazzar was doing. However, there was no need for Belshazzar to despise God at his party. But in the midst of the party, he had an idea. He wanted to drink wine from the church's cups and vessels, as he praised the gods of gold and silver. He wanted to make fun of the church and God's people. You must be careful when you lose respect for the church of God and its ministers. You are puffed up like Belshazzar when you do not respect the church nor the pastors.
One Sunday, I was invited to preach in a church which was situated in a well developed, prosperous neighbourhood. That church did not have enough parking space and the members would park along the street. One church member parked in front of a certain rich man's house. This rich man was so incensed he came out of the house swearing, cursing and hurling angry insults at the church member and the entire church. He forced the church member to remove his car from the road in front of his house. As he walked back into his house he fell down and died on the pavement. He did not even get to his gate.
You must be careful when you shout at the church members and insult the church and its pastors. That very Sunday evening, canopies went up in preparation for the funeral in the house.
