READ: Luke 1:51-52
«We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: but his lies shall not be so.» - Isaiah 16:6
To be haughty means to show arrogant superiority to someone. For example, it is when you view someone as unworthy of your time that you would end the conversation abruptly and slam the phone. Abruptly ending phone conversations and cutting the phone are indications of haughtiness and pride. Slamming a phone on someone is even worse.I once made a call to a pastor who was being tempted by the enemy to fall into error. When I asked a couple of questions and pointed out to the pastor that he was in error, he refused to continue speaking. Any questions I asked him from that point onwards were not answered. There was silence at the other end of the phone as this pastor, whom I had ordained into the ministry, brought the conversation to an abrupt end. I sensed the haughtiness and the disdain for my opinion.
Saying you are a son or a daughter is not the same as being humble. I once spoke to someone who claimed to be my daughter. I pointed out to her that if she were really my daughter she would obey what I was saying. Indeed, this lady was not acting like a daughter but like a big Madam who knew every- thing. She had her own opinions about everything, giving rebuttals to all my requests. She stood up to me eyeball-to-eye- ball, point-to-point and challenged me all the way! She gave me a good run for my money and she never obeyed me. When you obey someone you claim is your father, you prove that you are occupying the seat of a son or a daughter.
