1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV), “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins’”.

Apostle Peter tells us from today’s reading that love covers a multitude of sins. He echoes the proverb of King Solomon in Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV): “Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.” Love is a virtue all believers must learn to walk in. Here are three things to note about the power of love:

1. Love drives out fear. Love is not an affection that produces fear. If a man had perfect love to God, he would have no fear of anything, for what would he have to dread?  There is no fear in love and the Holy Spirit, through Apostle John, says in

1 John 4:18 (NKJV), “…Perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

When we walk in love it produces courage, which flushes out fear and creates Christ-likeness.

2. Love protects from evil. The Epistle of Saint Jude 1: 21 (AMP), answers the big question under this point: how does a believer keep himself from evil? He answers,

“And keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously and looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ [which will bring you] to eternal life.”

3. Love fulfills the law. Apostle Paul says in

Romans 13:10 (NKJV), “Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.”

Many of the promises in the word of God are conditional; as such, they are released when some commandments are obeyed. Since love sums up everything required by the law, it positions you for the release of every blessing.

Precious one, walking in love is a potent force that will enable us to receive the blessings of God, help us make the right choices, and protect us from evil. Therefore, walk in love!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I walk in the power of love, make me a living testimony in Jesus’ name. Amen.
