Malachi 3:10 Kjv Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Years ago, a missionary had been teaching tithing to his church. And the next morning a young Christian came to the missionary’s door with a fishing pole in one hand and a fish in the other hand. He said, “Here’s my tithe.”

The missionary asked him where the rest of his fish were and the man replied, “Oh, they’re in the river, I just wanted to bring God His first!”

Tithe is a tenth of our income or earning offered to God. We do not pay tithes as if to say that God needs our money. After all, He owns everything, including all we have earned. But here are 3 reasons why you must tithe:

#1. Tithing shows your love for the Lord and it tests where your heart is. The Bible says in Luke 12:4, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” In other words, tithing shows that our heart is first of all in God and His kingdom.

#2. Tithing is the surest and most reliable insurance on earth. The book of Malachi teaches us in

Malachi 3:11 Kjv that, “He will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.”

So tithing insures you from the devourer, who would have eaten up your harvest.

#3. Tithing is a way of honouring the Lord.
King Solomon advises us in

Proverbs 3:9, “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase.” He who tithes honours the Lord.

Precious one, because we love the Lord and seek to honour Him always, let us be sure to pay our tithes.

Prayer : Heavenly Father, as I obey your word to tithe, let every devourer in my finances, health, and family be rebuked, in Jesus’ name. Amen
