1 Corinthians 9:26 (NKJV) “Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.”

We have the choice to pursue the dreams that God places within our hearts. But those dreams cannot be pursued lazily or lackadaisically; they have to be pursued with great determination and discipline. Specifically, without certain virtues, our dreams of greatness will remain just at the dream level.

Here are three things we must do for our dreams of greatness to become a reality:

1. Be committed. When you find the path for your dreams, commit yourself totally to it. The Bible says in

1 Timothy 4:15 (NKJV), “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.”

Commit yourself to the process and the hard work that is required for you to achieve what you are pursuing. Remember, no one becomes great without wholehearted commitment and devotion.

2. Don’t take shortcuts. Anything that promises a quick-fix solution without any serious effort does not offer lasting promise. Don’t go for it. Jesus, our prime example, avoided a shortcut. We find this in

Matthew 3:15 (NKJV): “But Jesus answered and said to him,‘Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness’. Then he allowed Him.”

Even if you feel desperate and your situation keeps getting worse, do not allow the temptation and attraction for easy solutions to divert your focus. Short-cuts are normally labyrinths in disguise.

3. Build useful relationships. If you want to go far in life, you would need strategic relationships.

Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV) tells us, “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

Your appearance, attitudes, and disposition are daily being influenced by those you closely associate with. You are either getting sharper or getting worse every day. If you desire to move from just dreaming into manifestation or reality, you must surround yourself with friends or associates who challenge and add value to your life.

Precious one, if you would be committed, avoid shortcuts, and build useful relationships, surely this year your dreams of greatness will become a reality.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the wisdom I need to make my dreams become a reality in Jesus’ name. Amen.
