Romans 4:20 “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.”

Martin Luther once said, “God our Father has made all things depend on faith so that whoever has faith will have everything, and whoever does not have faith will have nothing.” Our success in life depends on our faith in God. Father Abraham had faith in God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

The Bible admonishes us to imitate those who through their faith and patience inherited God's promises (Hebrews 6:12). Throughout the life of Father Abraham, he walked with God in faith. Here are three important things to note and learn from Father Abraham concerning faith:

1. Abraham did not consider his surrounding circumstance. The Bible says in

Romans 4:19, “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb”.

Abraham did not consider his age or Sarah’s barrenness. He did not regard their inadequacy and the limitations of their physical bodies. Instead, he considered the promise of God, which fuelled his faith. Choosing to consider God’s Word rather than the obvious negative facts around us sets the atmosphere for our miracle.

2. Abraham gave glory to God for the promise. The Bible says in Romans 4:20, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God”. When we celebrate, rejoice in and thank God for His promises, we will see miracles manifest in our lives.

3. Abraham’s faith motivated his obedience to God. Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. He left his country with only a promise; and without even knowing where he was going, Abraham stepped out in faith, and today he is known as the father of faith. (Hebrews 11:8, Galatians 3:7)

Precious one, no amount of prayer and supplication can secure God’s promise for you so long as you live in unbelief. Therefore, like Father Abraham, do not be limited by your current circumstances, give glory to God in advance, and obey God, and you will receive like Abraham received.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I build my faith by learning from Father Abraham, may there be the speedy manifestation of your Word in my life and family in Jesus’ name. Amen.
