#7. God speaks through peace within.
The late William Barclay, a world-renowned Bible commentator and minister with the Church of Scotland, made this profound observation regarding God’s peace:
It may be that one of our great faults in prayer is that we talk too much and listen too little. When prayer is at its highest we wait in silence for God’s voice to us; we linger in His presence for His peace and His power to flow over us and around us; we lean back in His everlasting arms and feel the serenity of perfect security in Him.
We are told:
«And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful» Colossians 3:15
Some call this the still, quiet voice of God.
I have learned from personal experience that this kind of perfect peace is an important key to discerning God’s will. It has been my discovery that when my heart is filled with an indescribable peace that surpasses all human understanding, I am in the center of God’s perfect will.
SURRENDERING TO HIS WILL
God has a wonderful plan for your life, and this plan is directly connected to surrendering to His perfect will as He speaks to you through His Word, dreams and visions, circumstances, prophecies and gifts of the Spirit, an audible voice, similitudes, and peace within.
The wonderful Bible teacher R. A. Torrey wrote:
“The only man who is at all competent to interpret the will of God is the man who is in harmony with God, and the only man who is in harmony with God is the man whose will is fully surrendered to God.”
When you come to God, seeking to hear His voice and discover His will, and as you commune with Him, He reveals His perfect will for your life. Discovering God’s will for your life is a progressive process, with step-by-step revelations in line with the degree to which we surrender to Him.
Finding God’s perfect will is sometimes viewed as a mystery that few can understand, but I want you to know that every believer can discover His perfect will and enjoy the blessings that are only found in the very center of His master plan for your life!
